EXPERIENCE AND MODERN EQUIPMENT FOR HIGH-QUALITY STAINLESS STEEL PROCESSING

Raff + Grund has modern equipment for the high-quality and efficient production of stainless steel components, including a laser cutting system, various press brakes and rounding machines, a tube bending machine with internal mandrel and vessel grinding machines including a grinding head for dished ends. 

Experienced master craftsmen and skilled workers work in production, many with TÜV certification for the manufacture of pressure vessels. Raff + Grund is also a U-Stamp holder for pressure vessels for the American region and holds the SELO license (China Manufacturer License) for the Chinese market. 

For the welding of components, the company has automatic welding machines (plasma piercing and TIG), numerous manual welding machines and very modern orbital welding systems. High-quality component surfaces are produced in our own grinding shop. All components are pickled and passivated in the pickling shop. The components can be electropolished at the subsidiary elpotech.

CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES INCL. LASER CUTTING OF STAINLESS STEEL AND ALUMINUM

Our Trumpf TruLaser 3030 laser cutting machine with 6 kW laser can cut stainless steel sheets up to 3000 mm x 1500 mm and sheet thicknesses up to 20 mm. The laser cutting machine is also equipped with a tube laser device. 

The laser cutting machine is directly connected to an automated sheet metal high-storage warehouse. 

Cuts can also be made using plate shears, a Trumatic nibbling machine or a manual plasma system. CNC-controlled band, circular and planetary saws are available for cutting tubes and solid material.

BENDING AND ROUNDING OF SHEET METAL AND STAINLESS STEEL PARTS

The parts are bent on our modern Trumpf Trumabend V170 CNC press brake with 4 m bending length and bending angle sensors for precise and repeatable bending, as well as the EHT press brake with 3 m bending length. A swivel bending machine with a bending length of 3 m is also available. 

Several four-roll rounding machines (up to 18 mm sheet thickness), a cone rounding machine and flanging machines are available for rounding.

AUTOMATED AND MANUAL WELDING

High-quality weld seams are a priority for us. We therefore mainly weld manually with TIG and mechanically with TIG or plasma stitch holes. 

For economical and high-quality weld seams, we have an automatic carrier for circular seams up to ø 4 m and a height-adjustable longitudinal clamping bench (up to ø 3.6 m) with TIG or plasma stitch hole for longitudinal seams up to 3 m in length. 

Various TIG/E and MIG/MAG welding machines are available for manual welding. Pipework is welded orbitally. Orbital welding systems with closed and open welding guns are available for this purpose.

GRINDING AND POLISHING STAINLESS STEEL AND ALUMINUM

Raff + Grund takes the highest care when grinding and polishing components. We supply customers from the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, among others, as well as many other customers with high demands on the appearance of these components. 

Our grinding shop has several manual workstations with experienced specialists. A modern vessel grinding machine is available for the economical grinding of vessels. The machine is also equipped with a grinding head for grinding torispherical heads. 

We produce surfaces with a high-gloss polished finish up to a maximum Ra<=0.2μm, ground, satin-finished or glass bead blasted. The required roughness is checked and documented by calibrated measuring devices. 

All work and machine stations are connected to a modern, central extraction system.

PICKLING / CUSTOM PICKLING

At Raff + Grund, we pickle and passivate our own welded constructions as well as third-party components on a contract basis. Our modern pickling plant meets all legal and environmental requirements. With us you can expect many years of experience, qualified employees, short delivery times and adherence to delivery dates. 

Our neutralization plant is continuously monitored by neutral institutes. 

Three pickling baths measuring 6.1 x 1.5 x 1.5 m high, 3.5 x 2.4 x 1.4 m high and 3.1 x 2.0 x 1.3 m high are available for immersion pickling. Even larger components up to 5 x 5 x 15 m and up to 10 tons in weight or components with non-flushable interiors can be spray-pickled.

ELECTROPOLISHING

Our partner company elpotech GmbH & Co. KG has extensive experience in electropolishing individual parts and small series. We primarily electropolish parts from sheet metal working as well as vessels and components for the pharmaceutical and food industries. 

Two electropolishing baths measuring 1.8 x 0.8 x 1.1 m high and 1.1 x 1.1 x 1.1 m high are available for electropolishing. Larger components such as vessels and tanks can be electropolished internally by pumping them inside. 

To ensure a high-quality result, all work steps are carried out according to defined processes. An electropolishing duration and current intensity required by the customer to ensure sufficient removal rate are met. After electropolishing, the components are decapped and then rinsed. It is also possible to rinse the components in demineralized water. 

Roughness measurement with calibrated measuring devices and documentation of the work carried out are possible. The well-equipped tool shop produces special devices so that components with complicated contours can be electropolished cleanly on the outside and inside.
